ABOUT

Anna Minnick graduated with honors from the Kansas City Art Institute (16') with a BFA in Photography and Art History.

Her work explores the struggles of identity and mental illness. She hopes her work forms a dialog about these issues and strengthens awareness of the struggles that can come with these problems.

Her current series deals with the struggles of having anxiety disorders, how anxiety affects art making, and the difficulty of expressing that anxiety.

Mental illness isn’t something that should be taken lightly. For those effected, it can be a constant struggle to feel “normal”. That is why she created a series that really captures how anxiety feels for her. This is something that has affected the entirety of her life and it has taught her that mental illness is something that cannot be ignored. There are many things that can cause anxiety and that’s why this work is ultimately about finding common feelings and experiences.
